Falconets land in Brazzaville for U-20 WWC qualifier vs Congo

NIGERIA’s Falconets are already in Brazzaville, Congo for their 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier billed for Sunday.

The Nigerian contingent arrived in Brazzaville on Friday for the first leg, third round clash with Congo.

Nigeria Football Federation Executive Committee member Alhaji Babagana Kalli led the contingent of 23 players and officials into the Congolese capital aboard an Ethiopia Airline flight from Addis Ababa.

The delegation is staying at the Hotel Saint Francois de Paula in Brazzaville.

NFF officials said the Falconets, two-time runners-up at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, will have their official training at the match venue on Saturday evening.The Falconets thrashed Central African Republic 11-0 on aggregate, while Congo beat Egypt to set up the third round tie.

The winners of the tie on aggregate will progress to the final qualifying round scheduled for January, where three teams will emerge to represent Africa at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup to be hosted by Costa Rica in August 2022.

The second leg comes up at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos on Saturday, 18 December.
