WATFORD star Emmanuel Dennis is looking forward to playing for Nigeria at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon in January.

The in-form forward had been rumoured to have ruled himself out of contention in the national team after having been snubbed for recent games.

However, Dennis has been named in the squad for the AFCON and he cannot wait for the tournament to start.

Six stadiums in five cities in Cameroon will play host to 24 teams from 9 January to 6 February for the tournament, which was postponed by a year due to Covid-19.

“Proud to get a call up to represent my country. Naija boy,” Dennis tweeted on Monday night, confirming his availability.

Dennis, 24, who joined Watford from Club Brugge in a five-year deal in July, has been one of the Premier League’s most productive players this season with seven goals and five assists in 15 matches.

He has three Super Eagles caps, the last one coming in November 2020 when the Super Eagles played 0-0 with Sierra Leone in Freetown.

The Super Eagles will face Egypt, Guinea Bissau and Sudan in Garoua in the AFCON group phase.
