IMO: Gunmen set ablaze high court, destroy files

GUNMEN earlier today, reportedly burned down a portion of the Imo State high court’s Orlu facility that housed vital records

The attack on the INEC headquarters in Owerri by armed men, which the police claimed was carried out by the Indigenous People of Biafra, occurred just a few days prior to this incident (IPOB).

According to information obtained, the structure serves as both the high court and the magistrates court.

According to a judiciary employee who spoke to our correspondent under the condition of anonymity, all of the files in the building were burnt.

The police divisional headquarters and a security checkpoint are both nearby the Orlu high court.

In 2018, the high court was burnt down while he INEC office in Orlu was also set on fire on December 1.

,The chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association’s Orlu branch, Barnabas Munonye acknowledged the occurrence and called it regrettable.

He said that the association’s administrative secretary had brought the matter to his knowledge earlier today.

CSP Mike Abattam, a spokesman for the Imo State Authorities Command, confirmed the event and stated that police were looking into it.
