GOVERNOR Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has revealed that the All Progressives Congress, APC, won during the off-cycle election in his state and Kogi due to the party’s growing popularity.
Following the impact of President Bola Tinubu, Uzodimma stated that Nigerians are pleased with the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Uzodimma was re-elected in Imo after defeating opponents from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the Labour Party.
The APC’s candidate, Usman Ododo, also won in Kogi State, but the PDP won in Bayelsa State, with Governor Douye Diri re-elected.
Uzodimma and Ododo paid Tinubu a visit at the presidential villa to hand over their certificates of return.
During his visit, Uzodimma stated that the APC’s victory in Kogi and Imo states demonstrated the party’s “growing popularity”.
According to Uzodimma: “You recall that the election of November 11, our great party, APC, is growing in popularity and came out successfully in Kogi and Imo states.
“Our victory at the polls shows that Nigerians are still very happy with the APC. Nigerians voted en-mass for the President and this victory validates this claim through the voters in Kogi state and Imo state.
“So we have come to honour the president and also use the opportunity to thank him for his support, advice, and wisdom.
“He imparted on us and achievements he has recorded since he became the president which most of us leverage on to be able to convince the voters to vote for us.”
