Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officials have arrested two one-chance robbers, Taye and Sunday Olawunmi, in the Lekki-Ajah area of the state.

It was gathered that the suspects always disguise themselves as commercial bus workers in a white minibus with plate number APP 405 YA to rob unsuspecting commuters of their valuables.

The robbers were however caught on Monday, around 11 am when some LASTMA officials stopped them for picking up unsuspecting passengers at an unauthorized location around the Chisco area of Lekki-Ajah. This led to the minibus being confiscated.

Everything changed when one of the LASTMA officials disclosed that he had been robbed of his phone and money.

A spokesman for LASTMA, Olumide Filade, said in a statement that after the suspects were confirmed to be one-chance robbers, they were handed over to the Police at the Ilasan Police Division.

“Members of the public are advised to always board commercial vehicles at designated or authorized bus stops in order to reduce or eliminate the incidents of falling prey to one-chance robbers and also to ensure free flow of traffic.

“LASTMA, as the traffic management agency of Lagos State, will continue to make Lagos roads safer and free for easy and convenient movement,” Filade said.
