FASHION designer and influencer Veekee James has responded to criticism regarding how much of her marriage she shares online, emphasizing that social media only reveals a small portion of real life.

During an appearance on the Creativitea Live with Linda podcast, Veekee addressed the misconception that privacy guarantees a successful marriage.

She stated, “Initially, when we started receiving backlash on social media, people advised me to keep my husband out of the spotlight because he’s a quiet man. Some even suggested that private marriages are the ones that last. However, I have seen marriages that kept a low profile and didn’t last even a month. I’ve witnessed relationships hidden from the public eye that ultimately failed.”
Veekee responded to the scrutiny over how much she and her husband, Femi Atere, share on social media. She explained that they carefully plan their posts, which represent only a fraction of their lives. “I firmly believe in spirituality, but what people fail to realize is that they don’t know everything about others, even if they think they do. What we share on social media is what we have chosen to share; it’s content we have strategized and refined. Apart from the occasions when we surprise each other, I don’t even know the content we haven’t planned. There was a day when we recorded six pieces of content in one day, and it seemed to upset some people.”

She concluded, “The reason we’ve been able to navigate this effortlessly is that we are the ones who know what is happening in our marriage. Why do people think we put our lives out there for others? If I showed just a quarter of our lives, people would be shocked.”
