Flying Eagles win again in WAFU Cup tune-up game

THE Flying Eagles continued their preparations for the West African Football Union (WAFU) Cup on Tuesday with another friendly win.

Ladan Bosso’s side defeated amateur team Triple 44 Football Club of Ibadan 3-0 in one of the games to prepare them for the regional U-20 tournament.

Chukwudi Igbokwe scored twice, while Chukwubuikem Ikwuemesi got the other goal.

Ikwuemesi also scored on Saturday when the Nigeria U-20s beat KCG Academy in another friendly. 

The Flying Eagles will be attending the WAFU B U-20 tournament in Lome, Togo from mid-November to early December.

The tournament, which is a qualifying competition for the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, will be held from 18 November to 2 December in the Togolese capital.

The Flying Eagles are in Group B with Cote d’Ivoire and arch-rivals Ghana.

The other group contains hosts Togo, Benin Republic, Niger and Burkina Faso.

The top teams in the WAFU tournament will qualify for the U-20 AFCON scheduled for Mauritania in 2021.
