THE Nigerian Army has announced that the former Commander of the 3 Brigade in Kano, Brigadier General M.A. Sadiq, is under investigation for administrative irregularities in the North-West region.

Reports surfaced today alleging that the general is being held in Abuja over accusations of theft and mismanagement of palliatives.

Specifically, Sadiq is accused of diverting rice palliatives provided by the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), meant for soldiers under his command.

Addressing these reports, Army spokesperson Major General Onyema Nwachukwu clarified in a statement that Brigadier General Sadiq has been relieved of his command to facilitate a comprehensive investigation.

“The Nigerian Army is aware of media reports concerning Brigadier General M.A. Sadiq, the former Commander of 3 Brigade Kano, who is currently subject to a military investigation into administrative discrepancies during his tenure,” he said.

“As a self-regulatory institution rooted in discipline, justice, and accountability, the Nigerian Army has zero tolerance for misconduct and will not tolerate any actions that could compromise its core values and principles.

“The Nigerian Army assures both internal and external stakeholders that these allegations will be thoroughly investigated, and the appropriate administrative measures will be taken. Our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and transparency is steadfast.

“We assure that the investigation will be conducted fairly, impartially, and in accordance with our established procedures.”
