THE Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended  Babafemi Ojudu, the  Special Adviser on Political Matters to  President Muhammadu Buhari, for “contravening” the party’s directive.

Ojudu was suspended with nine other political stalwarts of the ruling party in Ekiti State.

In a statement, Ade Ajayi, the party’s publicity secretary, said Omotunde Ojo, a former member of the House of Representatives, is among those suspended.

Ojo is son-in-law of Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the ruling party.

Ajayi said the affected members were suspended for their refusal to withdraw litigations against the party.

Ojudu, a journalist and former Senator, and the 10 others are said not to be favourably disposed to the leadership of the working committee of Paul Omotosho, who doubles as the chairman of the Ekiti APC.

The suspended members are also described as habitual critics of the administration of Kayode Fayemi, governor of the state.

Worried by their conduct, Ekiti APC had set up a disciplinary committee to probe them.

However, they declined invitation of the 10-man disciplinary committee.

Through their counsel, Ademuyiwa Adeniyi, they wrote to Sola Ajigbolamu, chairman of the disciplinary committee, faulting the composition of the panel.

But in a letter dated September 23, 2020, Ajayi announced that they had been suspended indefinitely.

“The suspension is based on the recommendation of the investigative/disciplinary committee inaugurated by the SEC to investigate the disobedience of certain party members to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of 25th of June 2020, which directed members of the party not to institute any court action and to withdraw existing cases in court,” the statement read.

Others suspended  are  Wole Oluyede, Olusoga Owoeye, Dele Afolabi, Ayo Ajibade, Toyin Oluwasola, Akin Akomolafe,  Bunmi Ogunleye Femi Adeleye and Bamigboye Adegoroye.
