SUPER Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has said his goodbyes to Italian club Udinese as he gets set to move to England, Naija Times reports.

The 27-year-old centre-back is on the verge of joining Watford, who are in the second-tier English Championship following their relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season.

Troost-Ekong uploaded a farewell video in Italian on Instagram on Tuesday and wrote in English: “Thanks for everything @UdineseCalcio #ForzaUdinese.”

The Nigerian star is expected to complete his move to Watford in the coming hours, and some of his soon-to-be new teammates are already excited, with Ben Wilmot writing “get yourself over here” in response to Troost-Ekong’s post.

Born in The Netherlands to a Dutch mother and Nigerian father, Troost-Ekong began his career as a schoolboy in London with Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur youth teams.

He played up to U-21s level at Tottenham before leaving for Dutch club Groningen in 2013 on a free transfer.

He has since played for Dordrecht, also in Holland, Haugesund in Norway, KAA Gent in Belgium and Bursaspor in Turkey.

He joined Udinese from Bursaspor in August 2018 for €3.3m and played 66 times for the Serie A club in two seasons.
