SUPER Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is looking ahead to Tuesday’s friendly against Tunisia after the 1-0 defeat to Algeria.
The Nigerian team put up a below-par performance in the limp defeat to the African champions in Austria on Friday night, although Maduka was one of only a handful of Super Eagles players with decent outings.
The Sparta Rotterdam star admitted that the defeat was not a good result while asserting that the Tunisia game is now in his sights.
“It was not the result we wanted last night but we showed great fighting spirit in a tough game!” he stated.
“We’re now fully focused on the next match on Tuesday.”
Raimi Bensebaini scored an early goal as a dominant Algeria repeated their victory over Nigeria in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals.
On Tuesday at the Jacques Lemans Arena, also in Austria, the Super Eagles will seek to bounce back to at least get a win from their two friendly matches.
Nigeria defeated Tunisia in the third-place match of the 2019 AFCON.
The African teams are using the friendly games to prepare for their 2022 AFCON qualifiers billed for November.
