Akeredolu presents Certificate of Return to President Buhari, says ‘Ondo is not Edo’

• Advises Deputy to resign as mark of honour

GOVERNOR Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has advised his estranged deputy, Agoola Ajayi, to resign his post, having left the All Progressives Party, APC, and contested the state’s governorship election on the platform of another party, the Zenith Labour Party.

Akeredolu who was addressing State House correspondents in Abuja, after he presented his certificate of return to President Buhari, said resigning from his deputy-governor post, would show Ajayi as a. ma of honour.

The governor also reminded that the days of his deputy in the office was in any case numbered since a “new administration would soon be sworn in.”

Speaking further on the election, held October 10, the governor, said, “APC is a very strong force; we are a strong party in this country. Ondo is not Edo.We have proven that. They were dreaming. Now, they must have woken from their slumber.

“This is only possible with all of us working together, all the governors, the Bagudus of this world, the Badarus of this world, Fayemis of this world, Sanwo-Olus of this world, the Yahaya Bellos of this world, all of us went there to fight a good battle. And I’m sure Mr President was happy.”

The Ondo governor said having won the election, he intends to be governor to all, and so had no need for political enemies.

He was accompanied by the Deputy Governor-elect, Lucky Ayedatiwa and .governors of Lagos, Kebbi, Ekiti and Jigawa states.
