ITALIAN Serie A club Parma confirmed on Saturday that another senior player tested positive for COVID-19, taking their total number up to five.

The club released a statement on Saturday  morning announcing that after Thursday’s round of teste were all negative, a new test had found one of their players to be positive for COVID-19.

The player is asymptomatic and has been placed into isolation.

It takes the total number of cases at the club currently to five.

In accordance with COVID-19 protocols, the squad will continue in the ‘bubble’ of their training ground ahead of Sunday’s match with Udinese.

Another round of swabs will be taken 24 hours before the game.

There has been an upsurge in new cases in Italy and other parts of Europe as a second wave of the virus hits the continent.
