Mayhem in Ibadan: Arsonists raze two station, burn two policemen

ARSONISTS this afternoonunleashed mayhem in Ibadan, setting ablaze two police stations and burning two policemen alive.

The policemen are said to be personnel from Testing Ground division, Iwo Road, Ibadan.

The Akobo police station was reported scorched, looted with ammunitions carted away.

 In another development, suspected hoodlums caused a panic at Bashorun, Iwo Road, terrorising the neighborhood with sporadic gunshots. Similarly, Iyana Church Police Station, Ashi, Bodija and Alabebe were also attacked.

Agbeni, Ogunpa, Dugbe areas of Ibadan also had earlier recorded violent clashes with shops looted in the late hours of Wednesday.

Operating in separate groups, the hoodlums also harassed innocent residents, raiding shops and stores within the vicinity.

Eyewitnesses said the crisis erupted this morning when a policeman allegedly knocked down a youth in what appears an innocent road accident, but which attracted the anger of the hoodlums.
