IN a show of solidarity, the Lagos State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has condemned Wednesday’s attack on the premises of The Nation newspaper and the Television Continental by suspected hoodlums.
The thugs had seized the opportunity of the violence that trailed the #EndSARS protests to attack the premises of the two media organisations, believed to be owned by the former governor of Lagos, Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The NUJ said it wished the management of the organisations “greater come back after the arson on their headquarters on Wednesday, October 21.”
In a statement signed by Dr. Qasim Akinreti, Chairman, Lagos NUJ council on behalf of members, the body said, “We were all saddened by the unwanton destruction of properties by rampaging thugs amid #EndSARS protests.”
The statement continued, “There is an adage in Yoruba that says, “The burnt palace of a king is a blessing in disguise.
“Welcome back for better, The Nation Newspaper.
“We are waiting and looking forward to the comeback of Television Continental ,TVC.
