UCL: Bayern squeeze past Lokomotiv, Shakhtar hold Inter Milan

CHAMPIONS Bayern Munich got their second win of this season’s UEFA Champions League group stage, overcoming a spirited Lokomotiv Moscow side 2-1 in Moscow on Tuesday night. 

After thrashing Atletico Madrid 4-0 in their opening match last week, Bayern were expected to have an easy time in Moscow, but the Russians put up a brave fight. 

Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich got Bayern’s goals while Anton Miranchuk scored for Lokomotiv. 

Bayern Munich took an early lead in the 13th minute through Goretzka but could not add to their advantage before the break. 

The champions were dominant and created enough chances to take a comfortable lead. 

However, it was Lokomotiv who scored the next goal, Miranchuk sweeping the ball home after a quick counterattack in the 70th minute. 

Bayern bagged the winner nine minutes later and stay on top of Group A with six points from two games. 

In Group B, Shakhtar Donetsk went top after restricting Inter Milan to a 0-0 draw in Donetsk, Ukraine also on Tuesday night. 

Romelu Lukaku and Latauro Martinez went close for the Italian club but they were frustrated. 

Shakhtar, who stunned Real Madrid last week with a 3-2 away win, now have four points while Inter have two from two draws
