Flying Eagles thrash academy in pre-WAFU Cup friendly

THE Flying Eagles continued their preparations for the WAFU Cup with a wide-margin win in a friendly on Saturday evening.

The Nigeria U-20s defeated KCG Academy 5-0 in a preparation match in Abuja, where they are camped.Five different players got the five goals for the Flying Eagles as they spread the goal-scoring responsibilities.

One of the standout players for the Golden Eaglets, Wisdom Ubani, got one of the goals with the others coming from Azeez Oseni, Chukwubuikem Ikwuemesi, Hassan Hussaini and Nenrot Silas.

Veteran Ladan Bosso, who was in charge of the team in 2007, was recently reappointed and his first assignment is the WAFU B U-20 Cup.

The West African tournament will take place in Lome, Togo between 18 November and 2 December.

The Flying Eagles will face Ghana and Cote d’ivoire in Group B of the tournament.Togo, Burkina Faso, Niger Republic and the Republic of Benin are in the other group.

The WAFU tournament will serve as the qualifying competition for the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations billed for Mauritania in 2021.
