WALES head coach Ryan Giggs has been arrested by the police in Manchester over a domestic incident, according to reports in England.
The Sun claims that former Manchester United winger Giggs was arrested in his home in Manchester on Sunday night after a domestic disturbance but was later released on bail.
The Football Association of Wales released a statement late on Monday night after cancelling a press conference initially billed for Tuesday in which Giggs was to announce his squad for fixtures in November.
The statement reads: “The FAW is aware of an alleged incident involving the men’s national team manager Ryan Giggs.
“The FAW will be making no further comment at this current time.”
According to The Sun, the police were called to Giggs’ home on Sunday night.
The 46-year-old United legend was arrested and questioned on suspicion of bodily harm and assault of his girlfriend.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson told the Manchester Evening News: “Police were called at 10.05pm on Sunday to reports of a disturbance. A woman in her 30s sustained minor injuries but did not require any treatment.
“A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and section 39 common assault.”
Giggs, who years ago was involved in a scandal after a long-time affair with his brother’s wife, has denied all allegations of assault against him, according to the Mirror.
It remains to be seen if Giggs will be in charge when Wales face the United States in a friendly on 12 November.
They also have UEFA Nations League matches against Ireland and Finland during the November international break.
