Two-goal hero Iheanacho celebrates ‘enjoyable’ night, expects more Leicester success

SUPER Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho believes he and his Leicester City teammates are growing in confidence as their good form continues. 

Iheanacho scored twice on Thursday night, helping Leicester City to a 4-0 Europa League victory over SC Braga, their fifth win a row in all competitions. 

The Foxes are top of their Europa League group and second in the Premier League and the Nigerian is loving it. 

“It was enjoyable,” Iheanacho told LCFC TV in an interview, speaking about Thursday night. 

“We enjoyed it, it was a great night. We worked out there, so everyone was working hard. 

“So, [in the] first half, I wasn’t that good, but the second half was brilliant, so we got a clean sheet, so it was a great outing and we love it.” 

The 24-year-old former Manchester City star then described his two goals against Braga, which took his Europa League tally to three goals and three assists in just two starts. 

Iheanacho added: “It was just a ricochet, so I played a lovely one-two with Madders (Maddison) and the goalkeeper [was] trying to get there, but I was a bit quicker and I scored the goal, so I’m happy. 

“When you win, it gives you more confidence to keep going, to keep improving. So, we keep improving in training and we’re now focused on the Premier League, so that’s where our focus is now. 

“Yes, we are strong in the Europa League now, so three wins. We’ll keep going. Keep our focus and hopefully, in the next games, we keep winning. 

“It’s enjoyable, we love it. So, we’ll keep working really hard to get to the highest level, so hopefully we’ll get to the top in Europe.’

Iheanacho is due in Nigeria next week for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone in Benin City and Freetown.
