SUPER Eagles stars Joe Aribo and Leon Balogun are in celebration mood as they prepare for this week’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone.
The pair played key roles on Sunday as their club Glasgow Rangers maintained their position at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
Aribo scored twice in the first half while Balogun led the defence to a clean sheet in Rangers’ 8-0 win over Hamilton Academicals on Sunday.
Midfielder Aribo was taken off after 69 minutes with coach Steven Gerrard also sure of victory, but Balogun played the full game. After the game, both Aribo and Balogun took to social media to celebrate their win.
“Massive win today! Team was on fire,” Aribo tweeted.
“Delighted to contribute with teo goals, thank you God.”
Balogun, who is at Rangers on a one-year contract, also tweeted his happiness about the big win.
“Back with a bang and a clean sheet at Ibrox – excellent team performance from start to finish. @rangersfc,” the centre-back wrote.
Glasgow Rangers are in the hunt for their first league title since 2011, a period in which their bitter rivals Celtic have won nine straight titles.
Gerrard’s side are currently on 38 points from 14 matches, nine points clear of Celtic who have played two fewer games.
