LIVERPOOL’s Mohamed Salah has tested positive for COVID-19 while on international duty with Egypt.
The 28-year-old forward tested positive but has not shown any symptoms, the Egyptian Football Federation said on Friday.
According to the FA, other members of the team tested negative.
Egypt will host Togo in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday, and the North Africans will travel to Lome for the reverse fixture on Tuesday.
According to coronavirus guidelines, Salah will now self-isolate and could miss Liverpool’s next two matches.
Salah’s forward partner at Liverpool, Sadio Mane, had also tested positive for COVID-19 recently and the club have several key players unavailable due to injury.
They host Leicester in the Premier League on 21 November, before a Champions League tie against Atalanta at Anfield four days later.
Salah has scored eight goals in Liverpool’s Premier League games this season.
