SUPER Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho has vowed that the team will be ruthless against the Leone Stars in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Freetown on Tuesday evening.
The underdogs from Sierra Leone shocked Nigeria by coming from 4-0 down to draw 4-4 in the first match-up in Benin City on Friday, embarrassing the more accomplished Super Eagles.
Iheanacho, who was a second-half substitute in Benin City, could start in place of the injured Victor Osimhen in Freetown and he is in a fiery mood.
In a lighthearted exchange with a Leone Stars player on the pitch in Freetown, Iheanacho threatened that his team would show no mercy.
“We no go mercy for una,” Iheanacho, speaking in pidgin, is heard telling the unidentified Sierra Leone player whose face is not visible in the 20-second video.”We vex come, we dey vex. We vex come.”
The Sierra Leone player, also apparently joking, replied: “This is Freetown. We don’t lose in Freetown. I tell you this now.”
But Iheanacho is having none of it, shooting back jokingly: “Everything is free in Freetown.”
The Super Eagles would seal their spot at the 2022 AFCON in Cameroon if they win in Freetown.
The match kicks off at 5pm Nigerian time.
