NIGERIAN player Emmanuel Dennis has been dropped from Club Brugge’s squad to face Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night due to disciplinary issues, according to reports in Belgium.
The Super Eagles forward reportedly stormed off the team bus after an argument over sitting positions.
Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws reported Dennis was dropped after he reacted angrily on the team bus because he was not allowed to sit where he wanted, despite being fully aware that Brugge have placed strict measures on the bus as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The report added that the forward, who was in the Super Eagles squad for the recent Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone, will be fined for his indiscipline.
Brugge manager Philippe Clement confirmed Dennis was dropped on disciplinary grounds, revealing that the Nigerian is fit but not available for the Champions League fixture.
“Dennis is fit, but not in our selection,” the manager said. “He didn’t follow the club’s rules, that’s all I want to say about that.
“I prefer to concentrate on the players who are available to me.”
Dennis, 23, has scored once in the Champions League this season. He joined Brugge from Zorya Luhansk in 2017.
He also scored twice in a 2-2 Champions League draw at the Bernabeu with Real Madrid in October last year, and was on target against Manchester United in their Round of 32 Europa League home tie in February.
