Onuachu, Dessers’ goals propel Genk to victory as Ndidi, Iheanacho’s Leicester win

NIGERIAN strikers Paul Onuachu and Cyril Dessers were both on the scoresheet on Sunday as Genk defeated Royal Antwerp 4-2 in the Belgian Pro League.

Onuachu grabbed a brace while Dessers, who is yet to make a competitive appearance for the Super Eagles, scored once.Koji Miyoshi scored the opening goal of the match in the third minute for Royal Antwerp but Onuachu replied with two quick goals.

The Super Eagles striker levelled up for hosts Genk in the 19th minute and shot them ahead in the 23rd minute.

Theo Bongonda made it 3-1 for Genk in the 59th minute but Royal Antwerp reduced the deficit through Dieumerci Mbokani with seven minutes left on the clock.

Dessers made sure of the points for Genk with an 88th minute goal, seven minutes after coming on as a substitute for Onuachu.

Onuachu has now scored a remarkable 14 goals in 14 league matches this season, making him the most in-form Nigerian player in Europe at the moment.

In the Premier League also on Sunday, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho were second-half substitutes as Leicester City defeated Sheffield United 2-1.

Jamie Vardy scored a late winner as the Foxes rose to third in the Premier League with 21 points from 11 matches.
