NATIONAL: Nigeria records 758 new Covid-19 cases, 3 deaths

NIGERIA has continued to witness an increase in the number of people infected with the novel coronavirus as the country recorded 758 new cases yesterday.

The figure represents the third highest daily count since the first case in Nigeria was detected on February 27, 2020.

This was disclosed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its daily update on Tuesday night.

According to the centre, in the last 24 hours, 180 patients were discharged after recovering.

It added that the recoveries include 29 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines.

But 3 new deaths were also recorded.

18 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) recorded new cases on Tuesday.

The FCT recorded the highest number of cases with 305. The NCDC said the figure was for Monday and Tuesday.

Lagos recorded 152 new cases while Kaduna State recorded 103 new cases.

Others are from Bauchi (44), Gombe (35), Plateau (31), Rivers (17), Sokoto (15), Kwara (13), Kano (9), Ebonyi (8), Ogun (5), Osun (5), Oyo (4), Edo (4), Anambra (4), Bayelsa (2), Ekiti (1), and Taraba (1).

The total number of confirmed cases is now 74,132.

So far, 66,494 recoveries and 1,200 fatalities have been recorded.
