Buhari incompetent, uncaring – Northern Elders’ spokesman, Baba-Ahmed

THE spokesman of the Northern Elders’ Forum, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has lambasted President Buhari for displaying insensitivity in his reaction to the abduction of over 300 abducted Kankara schoolboys.

Baba-Ahmed, who restated his position that Buhari loves power but not governance, said the President has run out of ideas and apparently not in control of the country’s security.

The NEF’s spokesperson said this while featuring on Arise TV’s ‘The Morning Show’ monitored by Naija Times, today.

He said, “We are in a place where we’ve never been before. We’re at the lowest ebb of insecurity and our leadership does not seem to care.

” We’re running from pillar to post; defenceless and vulnerable. It’s quite unfortunate.”

He stressed that so far Buhari, has shown that he is incompetent and uncaring adding that it’s gross insensitivity and misplaced priority to visit your cattle ranch while “hundreds of our children are missing”.

“The president has not visited Kankara, instead, they’ve been going to visit him in Daura. He even visited his cattle ranch. Look at the level of insensitivity.

Somebody should have said, ‘Don’t go to see the cows, sir. And if you must go don’t permit photo opportunity. Who are those handling the president? Who is advising him?”Baba-Ahmed added.

He wondered how the president lost his humanity and became a totally different man from the person full of emotions after losing the 2011 election by asking ” Where is the empathy, where is the man who cried in 2011?”

The former permanent secretary also chided the National Assembly for being an appendage of the executive arm of government, particularly the president.

He said he didn’t have the kind of faith many Nigerians have in the National Assembly to take action against the president’s incompetence.

Baba-Ahmed, however, clear the air on NEF’s demand for the resignation of the president. He said the group is not clamouring for a coup but a responsible government that’s truly in charge.

He said, “We don’t want a military takeover, we want a president that can protect us.

“If for whatever reasons, whether physical or medical he is incapable to do this. He should step aside, he has no right to continue to preside over us.”
