KOGI: Stop using ‘careless’ Covid-19 comments to promote your presidential dream, Wada warns Bello

THE People’s Democratic Party’s candidate in the 2019 governorship election, Musa Wada, has berated the state’s governor, Yahaya Bello, for misleading people by consistently airing his ignorant opinion on a matter that he lacks expertise to comment on.

Wada said this in reaction to Bello’s latest comment on the Covid-19 pandemic where he discouraged Nigerians from taking the vaccines that will help fight the deadly virus.

Bello had said the vaccine would kill people in Nigeria contrary to the popular opinion that it would help fight the virus by boosting the immune system.

The governor had hinged his opinion on the speed with which the vaccine for the virus was discovered.

“These vaccines are being produced in less than one year of Covid-19. There is no vaccine yet for HIV, malaria, cancer, and for several diseases that are killing us… We should draw our minds back to what happened in Kano during the polio vaccines that crippled and killed our children. We have learned our lessons.

“If they say they are taking the vaccines in the public allow them take their vaccines. Don’t say I said you should not take it but if you want to take it open your eyes before you take the vaccines,” Bello said in a viral video.

But Wada in a statement issued on Tuesday disclosed titled, ‘You lack what it takes to advise Nigerians on COVID-19 vaccine, Engr Musa Wada tackles Yahaya Bello’, lambasted the governor.

Wada warned Bello to “stop using Covid-19 as part of his Presidential ambition campaign”, describing his last outburst against the use of yet-to-arrive Covid-19 vaccine, as “careless and unnecessary misleading”.
He also asked the Federal Government to “take a very definite stand on the pandemic”, saying the All Progressives Congress-led government is “blowing hot and cold at the same time”.

“The confusion in the land is because the APC lacks proper direction on the pandemic, that is silently killing across the world,” he added.

Wada described Bello’s attitude towards healthcare as alarming, noting that medical doctors in their large numbers had left Kogi State because their entitlements were not paid.

“One expected someone like Yahaya Bello to keep quiet over serious issues and is unfortunate in APC as anything goes, therefore Bello is being given a free hand and is creating more damages(sic) than necessary.

“In Kogi today, some remaining Doctors used candles and local lamps to attend to patients and nobody dare say,” he said.
