TURKISH club Fenerbahce have finally confirmed that Mesut Ozil has joined them from Arsenal.
The German midfielder has been in Turkey for several days awaiting the confirmation of the deal after cancelling his contract with the Gunners.
COVID-19 protocol in Turkey meant he had to be in quarantine for some days before interacting with others, therefore the unveiling ceremony to announce his contract could not be held.
Fenerbahce finally issued a formal announcement of the move on Sunday afternoon.
“An agreement has been reached with Arsenal Football Club for the transfer of professional footballer Mesut Özil to our club,” they stated on the Twitter account.
Ozil will be relieved to have finally ended his Arsenal saga after he was frozen out at the club for reasons other than his footballing abilities.
The former Germany international is of Turkish descent and revealed recently that he supported Fenerbahce as a child.
Meanwhile, Fenerbahce also announced on Sunday that they will be signing Nigerian forward Bright Osayi-Samuel in the summer.
The 24-year-old will join them on a free transfer in July after agreeing a deal.
“An agreement has been reached with Queens Park Rangers FC for the transfer of Bright Osayi-Samuel to our club to be completed on mid-season transfer window,” Fenerbahce stated.
