Olakira features on MTV Base ‘Official Naija Top 10’ show

MTV Base ‘Official Naija Top Ten’ has always been a platform for showcasing some of the movers and shakers of Nigeria‘s contemporary music space, highlighting some favourite songs with definitive music videos that are making it big across the country and serving viewers quality entertainment through in-studio interviews and antics.

Hosted by veejay, Okoeguale Ehizojie better known as Dadaboi Ehiz, the show has featured appearances by superstars from across the continent, including Emma Nyra, CEO, Nyra Nation to the sultry songstress, Tiwa Savage and top screen actors.

The show is giving viewers so much more to look forward to this year by kick-starting with a brand new season! The season premiere, which aired last week, featured singer and originator of hit song ko kpor ke, and its variant opor, Rexxie.

However, this week’s episode will take a new turn as multi-talented R&B, Afrobeat act, and the brain behind the hit album, Wakanda Jollof, Ade Ebenezer well known as Olakira, will make an appearance on the show.

The show is broadcast on MTV Base, DSTV channel 322 and GOTV channel 72, every Saturday by 6pm, with repeats subsequently.

The In My Maserati hit maker admitted that he began making music back in 2007, when he released a song, but later abandoned singing for music production. However, he went professional in 2015, when he got signed to the record label, U&I Music, as a producer.

According to the multi-talented musician, he found his passion as a producer and was given the nickname – EbenJazz. His decision to switch to singing came with some challenges, one of which was choosing his stage name. After much contemplation, he settled for Olakira, which means ‘a shining star’ in the Swahili language.

He made his official debut in 2018, when he released two hit songs, Hey Lover and Flirty Signal. The songs garnered millions of views on various platforms, earning him the fame he needed to start making a name in the industry.

In 2019, the young artiste exceeded the expectations of many people when he released his debut Extended Play (EP) album entitled Wakanda Jollof, which includes seven beautiful tracks. He, however, did not come into full public attention until he released another hit song, Aya Mi in early 2020.

The song was well received by Olakira’s growing fan base amid great views and reviews on several platforms. A few months later, he released his monster hit – In My Maserati – which became one of the most top-charting songs of 2020.
