CHIEF Sunday Adeyemo better known as Sunday Igboho has made public what he saw when he visited the residence of Seriki Fulani in Igangan last week.
The Yoruba ‘activist’ said the entrance of the Seriki’s residence was heavily guarded by militias who subject any visitor to serious questioning before granting access to the main residence.
Igboho added that the Fulani leader is living in opulence with fleet of cars parked at various spots in his residence.
He said this in his interview with a popular broadcaster, Kola Olootu on Saturday.
He said, “I saw different expensive vehicles, such as Range Rover Sport, Toyota Venza, Camry and more. I asked him if it was with the proceeds from the cattle that he sold that he was able to buy the expensive vehicles, some of which costs as much as N38m while some cost N8m.
When asked if he was truly shot at but the bullets did not penetrate during his visit to the Seriki, Igboho replied in the affirmative.
He said, “That shows the efficacy of the Yoruba traditional power. It would not be a hard nut for the Yoruba people to crack, rather the evil marauders killing and maiming our people would be visited with retribution as God lives.”
Igboho, the intrepid warlord whose fame rests on his exploits during the internecine war between Modakeke/ Ife, noted that if nothing is done to check the activities of the Fulani herdsmen in Igangan and Yorubaland in general, they might soon chase away the indigenes.
Meanwhile, the activist alleged findings at the Seriki Fulani’s residence contradicts what Miyetti Allah Leader, Bello Abdullahi Bodejo, said about his Fulani people in the interview he granted the Sun Newspaper on Saturday.
Bodejo had argued that his people are not materialistic, adding that they live spartan lifestyles
“I have just concluded a meeting with my fellow Fulani and we have found out that some people will adorn Fulani attire to carry out various crimes. How can Fulani man living in the forest kidnap and ask people to pay ransom ranging from N5 million to N10 million. What would he be doing with that kind of money inside forest; if you pay herdsmen N20 million, N10 million, N5 million in the forest, where would he carry the money to and what will he be doing with such money? Check the leaders of those criminals; let the governors identify who the criminals are. They are not Fulani. He just wants to use that as an excuse to drive our people away from his state. It is just giving a dog a bad name to hang it; the herdsmen are not the kidnappers, let him carry out proper investigations. Let him know this, no any person in this country can push us out of the forests.”
Buttressing his claim that Fulani herdsmen, by nature of their occupation, are somewhat averse to luxuriating in affluence, Bodejo said they would resist any inducement to leave the forest for the city.
“We don’t need cities or towns. If you dash (sic) us FCT Abuja or the city of Lagos, we won’t have anything to do with it.
“We want a place where we continue to practice our age long culture of cattle rearing. We inherited it from our forefathers and it will continue till the end of the world. People are using propaganda to spoil Fulani name, and desperate politicians are in the forefront.” Bodejo said.
Speaking on his findings, however, Igboho disclosed that some Yoruba traditional leaders are complicit in the growing insecurity in Ibarapaland.
He said, “I was told that some traditional rulers in the area collect money from them and honour them with traditional titles. They also give them land.
“I told Seriki that we could no longer cohabit with him and his people because he is a betrayer. I am not against Hausa/Fulani people. I have many of them as friends at Sabo, Ibadan.”
