FCT: One feared dead, scores injured as police clash with Shiites again

THERE was a fresh clash between the police and members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria popularly called Shiites today in Abuja.

One person was reported to have been killed during the clash which took place at the Maitama area of the Federal Capital Territory near the National Human Rights Commission.

It was gathered that the victim was hit by a bullet while the police were trying to disperse the Shiites with teargas canisters and other weapons; many other people were said to have been injured.

Reports also have it that while the clash lasted thick plumes of smokes and dust billowed all around and sounds of gunshots rent the air.

The President, Academic Forum of IMN, Abdullahi Mohammed, said the group would soon be releasing a statement on the incident.
