KWARA: Residents beat up driver as truck crushes tricycle, kills three

ANGRY residents of Oke-Oyi in Ilorin-East Local Government Area on Saturday set a truck ablaze for crushing three passengers in a tricycle to death.

The incident, reportedly, happened on the old Ilorin-Jebba Road when the driver of the tricycle wanted to cross to a filling station to buy fuel without taking cognisance of the coming truck.

The driver of the truck was said to have made desperate efforts to prevent the fatal incident from happening but it was to apply the brakes, consequently he crushed the tricycle.

The driver of the truck, said eye witnesses, was beaten mercilessly before he was rescued by the policemen drafted to the scene of the accident.

The residents also barricaded the road and truck drivers plying the route had to divert to neighbouring Osin village to take cover.
