Fani-Kayode kicks as Yahaya Bello confirms defection to APC

GOVERNOR Yahaya Bello has said former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, approached him on Monday to discuss his defection from the People’s Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Bello confirmed Fani-Kayode’s alleged defection, which has been speculated by many political pundits, while addressing a crowd of APC supporters as seen in a video on social media.

Fani-Kayode had on Monday met with the National Chairman of the APC, Governor Mai Buni of Yobe State and Governor Bello.

Pictures from the meeting had sparked the speculation that Fani-Kayode, who is known to be an avowed critic of the All Progressives Congress and the Buhari administration, was on the verge of jumping ship.

Fani-Kayode had once dubbd the APC as the “Almajiris People Congress” among other unprintable descriptions of the ruling party.

But reacting to the meeting he had with the former Minister today, Bello said, “Our brother and friend, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has joined our party in good faith. He’s joining our party to add his own positive energy and make contribution into ensuring that APC is a party to beat.”

“Remember that Chief Femi Fani-Kayode was a foundation member of this great party. Due to misunderstanding, he decided to port elsewhere, now he has decided to join our party, approached me, and by the mandate given to me by the party, I must not segregate or discriminate against any individual.”

Meanwhile, Fani-Kayode in a tweet on his verified Twitter handle today said he is yet to leave the PDP.

“Though we have had meetings across party lines and we are in a season of political consultation I have not left the PDP,” he wrote.
