NIGER: Again, gunmen attack community one reportedly killed, many feared abducted

AT least one person was said to be killed  while many were reportedly abducted in a separate attacks by gunmen yesterday in Madaka community, Rafi Local Government Area.

The attacks were launched as the government of Niger State was busy making efforts to secure the release of students and staff abducted at the Government Science College in Kagara on Wednesday.

It was further learnt that the attack took place at about 2pm when the gunmen swooped on some villagers headed for a wedding along Madaka-Kagara road.

The bandits also ambushed another group of persons returning from Madaka market.

“We don’t know the number yet but they were many that were taken away. They were going for a wedding and were ambushed on their way and taken into the bush,” a member of the local vigilante, Zakari Mai, told TheCable.

Also, a resident, Yunusa Acha, said, “The villagers went to Madaka market and on their way coming back, those bandits attacked them along the road and kidnapped them. Nobody knows the actual figure.

“Then, there was another attack like one hour after, against some people carrying their bride to a marriage ceremony along that same route. They were on a bus and the bandits took all of them. We heard that one person was killed.”
