14th Headies awards… a feast in spite of Covid

PROTOCOLS associated with the Covid -19 pandemic took the shine off the Headies Awards at the 14th edition held yesterday night at the Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos on a virtual format, through live media.

The hosts were Bovi and Nancy Isime and in attendance were a bevy of celebrities including Wizkid, Tu Face and AY. Others include reality TV show housemates like Erica Nlewedim, Alex Asogwa and winner of the fifth season of the Big Brother Naija, Lekan Agbeleshe (Lecon).

Fireboy led the list of winners with five wins, Wizkid and Simi followed with two awards each, Omah Lay won the Next Rated Award which came with a brand new SUV. The Cavemen, Master KG, Ladipoe, Mayorkun and Moelogo all took home an award each. Niniola won the Best Vocal Performance Award for the female category. King Sunny Ade made the Hall of Fame and Eedrees Abdulkareem got The Special Recognition category.

Other winners are: Brymo- Ozymandias (Best Recording Of The Year), Bad Boy Timz (Rookie Of The Year), Illbliss- Country (Lyricist on the roll), Praiz- Under The Sky (Best Vocal Performance), Falz ft. Ms Banks – Bop Daddy (Best Rap Single), DJ Neptune, Joeboy and Mr. Eazi- Nobody (Best Pop Single and Song of the Year), Pheelz – ‘Billionaire’ by Teni (Producer of the Year), Davido’s ‘1 Milli’ directed by Director K (Best Music Video), and AQ – God’s Engineering (Best Rap Album).
