Spotify now available in Nigeria

THE popular global audio streaming service, Spotify was on Tuesday launched in Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya.

The App has more than 100 playlists across many popular genres in Africa and it is tailored for music consumers on the continent.

Phiona Okumu, Spotify Head of Music Sub-Saharan Africa said, “African creators have always pushed boundaries, innovating and creating incredible sounds and starting from today we are giving them access and the opportunity to connect with a global audience of fans. By bringing in a best in class product and a localised experience made for Africa, we will contribute to boosting the growth of the local streaming ecosystem.”

Spotify service in Nigeria is free with an upgrade to Premium for N900 per month. Other services include the Spotify Premium Family plan which is available for N1400 for up to siz members in a family; Spotify Premium Duo Plan available for N1200 is for two people living at the same home address, which includes Duo Mix, a regularly updated playlist; Spotify Premium For Students plan is available for N450 per month.

Spotify launched its services in 2008 and is the world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service with a community of more than 345 million users, including 155 million Spotify Premium subscribers, across 93 markets.
