KANO: Salihu Tanko Yakasai, ‘Buhari critic’, released by DSS

THE Department of State Services(DSS) has released Salihu Tanko Yakasai, the aide of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, who was sacked by his boss, and arrested by State security operatives for criticising President Buhari.

Salihu was arrested last week following his comments on the abduction of over 300 students from the Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in Zamfara State.

The abduction came almost two weeks after some students and staff of Government Science Secondary School in Kagara were abducted.

The students and staff have since been released.

But reacting to the spate of kidnappings Yakasai, asked President Buhari to resign if he could not stop the kidnapping of citizens.

“Clearly, we as APC government, at all levels, have failed Nigerians in the number 1 duty we were elected to do which is to secure lives & properties.

“Not a single day goes by without some sort of insecurity in this land. This is a shame! Deal with terrorists decisively or resign”, Salihu  wrote on his Twitter handle.

Hours after making the comment on his official Twitter handle, Yakasai was arrested by the DSS officials.

According to his father, the former media aide to Governor Ganduje was arrested on his way to a barber’s shop for a haircut.

The DSS initially denied Salihu’s arrest but later admitted they took him.

His arrest attracted criticisms from various quarters in  the country

But last night his brother, Abdullahi Yakasai, announced  his release in a tweet, posting a photo with Salihu.

“Alhamdulilah. My brother @dawisu is out. Thank you all #freedawisu”, Abdullahi wrote.
