TODAY is International Women’s Day — a date set aside to celebrate women all over the world who have in one way or the other contributed to the social, economic, cultural, and political growths.
Every year, a theme is chosen to address some important issues in society. For this year, the theme is #choosetochallenge.
A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we are all responsible for our own thoughts and actions. Women are to rise to challenge all the things hindering their growth.
Everyone has a call to challenge and fight against gender bias and inequality.
On this note, some Nigerian Nollywood celebrities have taken to their respective social media pages to celebrate and inspire every woman out there to #choosetochallenge.
Naija Times has carefully selected these important messages from seven Nollywood stars culled from their Instagram platforms:

Focus on you – Juliet Ibrahim

ONE of the best things that ever happened to me is that I’m a woman. Millions of people live their entire lives without finding themselves, but I made it a mission to embrace my femininity and enjoy every bit of being a woman.
I am a girl who knows how to be happy even when I feel sad, because at the end of the day there’s only ONE me and it’s my life to live not anyone else’s!
#IChooseTochallenge myself every single day I wake up, to be better than the woman I was the day before.
I am beyond “super amazing”! I am living my life to the fullest and I am extremely content. Ladies, whilst, we still plead for equal rights and to be freed from patriarchy; Queen please focus on YOU, Love yourself so hard like you’ll love that man you’re in love with! Treat yourself like you ought to be treated, discover your worth and watch your life change for the better! Self love and Self awareness is all that’s needed.
There’s nothing you put your mind to that you can not accomplish!
Be a Woman and #choosetochallenge yourself today!

Always be strong – Ibinabo Fiberesima

STRONG women aren’t born, they’re made.
They’re made from hard work and determination. They’re made from a fire inside, that cannot be tamed. They are made from never giving up. Women who rode their own paths and stood up for what they believe in.
So here’s to you. The strong women. The women who are building up others, and chasing their goals.
Here’s to every type of woman, may you always be strong. Happy International Women’s Day 2021.

When difficulty raises it’s ugly head, go down on your knees – Chiege Alisigwe

A WOMAN: a powerful being, strong, resilience, loving, caring, etc. Women are an epitome of strength. We are born with a unique strength that carries the world. As a woman, never you ever limit or underestimate the strength and power in you. You might be called all sorts of name’s like, prostitute, gold digger and a lot more, but hey girl, you are still beautiful and all you strive in life is for all those tiny feet’s that later in life, turns into big men and Women!
You endure a lot just for the sake of your little Children. You allow stones to be thrown at you, just for your babies
You cry day and night (in secret) just because you want the best for your children. You go hungry, just to feed your kids. Sometimes you accept insults, just to make sure that your children were not insulted in anyway. You fast and pray for no other thing than to be able to carter for your kids. You smile amidst the sadness and pains in your heart and hidden tears at the back of your eyes, just to see them smile and be happy
Life throws you upside down, yet you still managed to pull through it all. You were thrown punches and stone, but instead you choose to pick them up and build a stronger woman in you and castles.
What more can I say? I am too emotional right now, with tears in my eyes and deep love in my heart I say to all women out there, I LOVE YOUR COURAGE, but God loves you more. God will never let you down, you must surely eat the fruits of your hard labour both in your young and old!
You are amazing and i want you to know that you are the apple of God’s eyes and the main reason the world is still alive and in existence!!!!
My GREAT WOMEN, you are more than you already know. Think less of yourself. When the difficulty raises it’s ugly head, don’t forget to go down on your knees and watch the mountains shook for your sake!
