THE National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has restated his resolve to rid the country of those who deal in drugs by availing itself of the available modern equipment and technology.
The NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen Buba Marwa (rtd), said this yesterday during a courtesy visit to the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammed Babandede, in Abuja.
He said the agency will make use of the database of the Nigeria Immigration Service to track drug barons and traffickers.
Marwa made the declaration after a tour of the NIS database facility.
Marwa commended Babandede for deploying technology to keep data for the use of the nation’s intelligence community.
He said, “No doubt, the Nigeria Immigration Service database will be of immense use to us in NDLEA in our efforts to track drug barons and traffickers wherever they may be hiding across the world and we’ll take advantage of the new technology deployed by the NIS now that the NDLEA is on top of its game”.
Reacting to the NDLEA boss, Babandede, said the former Lagos administrator was the right Nigerian to handle the kind of task NDLEA was saddled with given his past records, experience and competence.
He added that it was not enough to send those caught with drugs to jail, membership of any drug cartel must equally be regarded and treated with similar measure.
