GOVERNOR Ben Ayade has announced the suspension of Chairman of the state Carnival Commission, Gabe Onah.
In a terse statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Christian Ita, Governor Ayade said Onah’s suspension must take effect with immediate effect.
The statement, however, did not give any reason for the governor’s action and no replacement was announced either.
The statement said, “His Excellency, the state Governor, Sir Ben Ayade has approved the suspension of Gabe Onah as the chairman of the Cross River State Carnival Commission.
Also, a separate statement signed by Christian Ita, announced the setting up of two committees to investigate the activities of Ministry of Lands & Urban Development and the Cross River Geographic Information Agency.
The statement read, “The Committee to investigate activities of Ministry of Lands & Urban Development has Mrs Franca Inok, the Auditor-General for Local Government as chairman.
“The Committee to investigate CRGIA’s activities regarding ground rent and building approvals of all new property developments since 2015, has Mr Henry Ojogu, a former Accountant-General of the state as chairman.”
