THE National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Ayokunle Olasupo, has advised President Buhari to stop blaming his predecessors in office for the challenges currently confronting the country.
Ayokunle said government is a continuum and Buhari is expected to address whatever challenges he inherited from the previous administration.
The president made this known at the Holy Convocation organised by the Victory Life Bible Church, in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital yesterday.
Speaking on the theme, ‘The State Of The Nation: The Way Forward’, Rev. Ayokunle also accused the present administration of being religiously biased, adding that insecurity and other vices being witnessed in the country was as a result of negligence on the part of the Buhari’s administration.
Ayokunle, who also lamented the spate of insecurity and criminality in the country, said that criminals displayed more professionaism in executing their dastardly acts than various security outfits in Nigeria.
He said “We put you there to secure the nation, we didn’t put you there to be complaining about bad leaders.
“The criminals are behaving more professional than the regular law enforcement agents. You were complaining about past leaders, we knew that the past leaders didn’t do well and we approach you to make change.
“Who’s is afraid and for what are you afraid of, especially when we have seen you do it at the national level and you are incompetent. We cannot continue like this” He concluded
He attributed the failure to effectively tackle insecurity in the country to Buhari’s “lopsided appointment of security heads.”
The CAN president said the recent appointments of security heads by the President was lopsided along ethnic and religious group.
“The appointment was lopsided along ethnic and religious group and each time we accuse the Government, they will say we are attacking Muslims. We are only accusing the government. I wonder if they are working with the government not they are collaborators. The Muslims have always disrespected us by attacking us. We have never ever accused the Muslim group of anything.
“The appointment is also a deliberate attempt by the government to put a particular ethnic and religious group in an important position of decision making while others will be put under them” Ayokunle concluded.
