Iheanacho’s strike wins Leicester’s Goal of the Month award

ONE of Kekechi Iheanacho’s goals in a very prolific March has been named as Leicester City’s best goal for the month.

The Super Eagles forward scored seven goals in four club appearances in the Premier League and FA Cup in March, helping Leicester City stay second in the league and advance to the semi-finals in the Cup.

The award-winning strike was Leicester City’s only goal in the 1-1 Premier League draw at Burnley on 3 March. It was made in Nigeria as Iheanacho finished with a superb volley from just inside Burnley’s box after a precise long pass from his friend and compatriot Wilfred Ndidi.

Iheanacho was earlier named Premier League Player of the Month for March, making him the fourth Nigerian to win the award after Austin Jay Jay Okocha, Osaze Odemwingie and Odion Ighalo.

The 24-year-old scored five Premier League goals and another two in the 3-1 FA quarter-final win over Manchester United in March, his most productive month since joining Leicester City in 2017.

Iheanacho has scored 12 goals and made five assists in 29 appearances for Leicester City this season.
