LEEDS United pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the Premier League this season with a 2-1 win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Despite going down to 10 men at the end of the first half, the promoted side scored a late goal to beat the league leaders.
Stuart Dallas scored both Leeds United goals, while Ferran Torres netted for Manchester City.
Dallas gave the visitors a surprise lead in the 42nd minute, his shot going in off the inside of the right post from a rare Leeds United attack in a game totally dominated by the hosts.
Leeds United were then reduced to 10 men shortly after as their captain Liam Cooper’s tackle on Gabriel Jesus was considered dangerous after a Video Assistant Referee review.
Manchester City continued to dominate possession in the second period but Leeds United held on until 14 minutes to the end when Torres finished off a team move for his first Premier League goal since December.
At that stage, a Manchester City win appeared inevitable as they piled forward in search of the winning goal.
It was however Leeds United who got the winner in added time on the counterattack as Dallas slotted the ball in between Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson’s leg after receiving a through pass from Ezgjan Alioski.
With the defeat, Manchester City remain 14 points ahead of second-placed Manchester United, who have two games in hand.
City need 11 points from their remaining six fixtures to ensure a third Premier League title in four seasons.
Leeds United moved up to 10th in the table above Arsenal, with 45 points from 31 matches.
