THE Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has suspended its 10-day-old strike, which commenced on April 1.
The group’s president, Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi, confirmed the development this evening, to newsmen after the meeting.
Leaders of the doctors association had been in a marathon meeting with the federal government team which included the minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige and the minister of state for Health, Dr Mamora, during which the various items in the doctors demands were discussed.
Dr. Okhuaihesuyi said the association had resolved to resume work following positive consideration of the agreement reached with the federal government at the meeting.
The association, according to its president, will be formally announcing its suspension of the strike after communicating the decision to government through the Minister of Labour and Employment Senator Chris Ngige later today.
At the end of the meeting, the doctors gave the federal government four weeks to honour the terms agreed upon at the meeting.
