LAGOS: Govt approves commencement of vaccination exercise for pensioners

THE government has approved the commencement of vaccination exercise for pensioners in the state.

Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Ajibola Ponnle stated that the approval was in response to the request by the Lagos State Council of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners to be considered for the Covid-19 vaccination programme.

She said that the state government is aware of the vulnerability of the elderly to the Covid-19 infection, alongside the constraints and efforts to obtain and secure the vaccine, hence the governor’s benevolence and approval.

Ponnle revealed that the state government has acceded to the demands of the union for pensioners that are 70 years and above be considered for vaccination.

The commissioner, therefore, urged pensioners in the category to visit any Primary Healthcare Centre nearest to them to be vaccinated.
