BORNO: Soldiers foil multiple attacks on camp, Muslims observing Ramadan

DESPITE their vaunted espousal of Islamic tenets, Boko Haram insurgents did not deem it fit to stop their deadly attacks on lives and property in the holy month of Ramadan.

The terrorist group made attempt to attack some Nigerian soldiers and Muslim faithful during the breaking of Ramadan fast in Borno State yesterday. The soldiers, however, foiled the attacks.

The terrorists were said to have launched the multiple assaults in Damasak and Gajiram within Mobbar and Nganzai Local Government Areas respectively.

“One of the groups hit a military Super Camp, the second attacked another position along the Maiduguri road, while the third infiltrated through the northern axis,” said a source.

According to the source, the military deployed the Nigerian AirForce (NAF) jet to support ground troops during the invasion.

He added that two-gun trucks and scores of terrorists were destroyed and killed.

The military believes the attacks were a tactic to distract the Air Task Force aggressor with night capability.

The aircraft conducts regular air raids.

The military killed some insurgents on gun trucks.

Others were eliminated near the fence of an aid agency’s storage as they attempted to loot food items.
