Chelsea outclass Man City to reach second straight FA Cup final

CHELSEA eased into the FA Cup final with a 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the first semi-final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

The Blues advanced to their second consecutive final of the competition courtesy of Morocco international Hakim Ziyech’s second-half goal.

The London club, who lost the 2020 final to Arsenal, were sharper on the ball and looked more purposeful than their opponents from Manchester, Thomas Tuchel’s side dictating play from the start.

After a goalless first half of few chances and only one shot on target, Chelsea finally got the reward their performance deserved.

Mason Mount slipped the ball around City’s highline defence for Timo Werner, who stayed onside before squaring for Ziyech to tap into an unguarded net 10 minutes into the second half.

Manchester City’s main man Kevin De Bruyne had been forced off seven minutes before the game, further weakening Pep Guardiola’s lacklustre side.

Despite the introduction of in-form young forward Phil Foden and Ilkay Gundogan, who has been prolific lately, City did not look like breaking Chelsea down.

Even after they lost their defensive rock Thiago Silva, Chelsea still comfortably kept out Manchester City and never looked like conceding.

With the win, Tuchel became the first German manager to reach the FA Cup final in England and he also earned his first ever win over Guardiola in their sixth meeting.

Chelsea have now kept 14 clean sheets in 19 games under Tuchel.
