Onuachu, Moffi, ex-Eaglet Amoo on target in Belgium, France, Sweden

THE very prolific Paul Onuachu continued to produce the goods for KRC Genk over the weekend, scoring yet again despite his side’s defeat.

The towering Super Eagles striker scored twice on Saturday night although Genk lost their top of the table clash 3-2 to Royal Antwerp.

Onuachu scored the game’s first two goals in the 22nd and 64th minutes to give Genk a 2-0 lead against their Belgian Pro League rivals but the hosts responded with three goals to claim a come-from-behind win.

With the brace, Onuachu has now scored a remarkable 29 league goals in 33 matches for Genk this season, his best goals return in his career. The 26-year-old has scored 31 goals overall in 35 matches across all competitions this term.

Also on Saturday night, this time in France, young Nigerian forward Terem Moffi struck twice for Lorient in their 3-2 defeat at Marseille in Ligue 1.

Moffi, 21, scored in the 19th minute to give struggling Lorient the opening goal but Marseille were back level in the 53rd minute through veteran Dimitri Payet.

Pol Lirola made it 2-1 for Marseille in the 56th minute before Moffi pounced again with Lorient’s equaliser in the 70th minute.

Marseille however claimed all three points as Lirola scored again one minute into injury time.

Moffi has now scored 11 Ligue 1 goals in 27 appearances for Lorient, who are just two points above the relegation zone.

There was another Nigerian goal on Saturday night, in Sweden. Akinkunmi Amoo, who was a member of the Golden Eaglets to the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup, was on target for Hammerby in their 2-0 league win over Mjallby.

The goal was 18-year-old Amoo’s first in the Swedish Allvenskan, the country’s top league, in two matches, and his fifth in eight matches in all competitions.
