THE gale of killings sweeping across the state has continued unabated as gunmen suspected to be Fulani militia have foisted tragedy on Tse-Zoola community in Makurdi Local Government Area.
It was gathered that the gunmen invaded the community early hours of yesterday and butchered two residents.
Reacting to the heinous act, a man reputed to be the eldest man in the community, Aho Zoola, said the militia herdsmen attack his people without provocation.
Zoola confirmed that the attack happened yesterday adding that one Zaki Hyacinth Ajon and Benjamin Anakula were killed by the herdsmen.
Meanwhile, the Governor of the State, Samuel Ortom, while returning from burial of one Mrs Bridget Mom, stopped his convoy when he noticed that an incident occurred in the area.
According to Ortom’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Jimin Geoffrey, the governor asked the residents if they had clashed with the Fulani herders prior to the attack but Aho, the eldest man replied that the villagers have never had any issue with herdsmen even when their herds graze on their crops.
The governor after sympathising with the villagers displaced from their homes assured them that he would do everything possible to get security agencies to the area.
This is happening almost two weeks after 11 soldiers on a peace keeping mission in Konshisha LGA of the state were killed by gunmen.
