EDO: UNIBEN’s bursar loses security guard, as gunmen invade residence

AN officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ugiagbe Alex Osaghae, was killed yesterday by gunmen.

Osaghae, who was on guard duty, was killed when the gunmen invaded the residence of the Bursar of the University of Benin,  Victor Imagbe, at Ogheghe along the Sapele Road, Benin.

Though the burser escaped unscathed, his guard wasn’t that fortunate as he was caught in a hail of bullets from the assailants.

The gunmen also made away with Osaghae’s rifle after killing him.

A source at the Edo State Police Command confirmed the incident, adding that investigation aimed at nabbing the perpetrators had commenced.

It was gathered that the gunmen came to Imagbe’s house around 2.45am and opened fire on the NSCDC officer, killing him on the spot. Osaghe’s remains was said to have been deposited in the mortuary of the Central Hospital, Benin.
